Bright floral collageMonday 12th January, 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 1, 2 and 3.

“Abstract Flowers”, collage on canvas:
This is a multilayered workshop, which will have our young artists engaged all day. The children will firstly make their own decorated paper, using paints and other mediums. They will then cut out lovely flowers and leaves, using some templates to assist them, and compose a design on a background which they will have prepared earlier in the day. This is a very creative workshop. – Julia

watermelon photoTuesday 13th January 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 4, 5 and 6.

“Off The Edge”, painting on canvas:
Let us bring the taste of summer onto our canvases. The artists will paint a fabulous contemporary painting, with many new skills to be integrated. The students will learn to look at sections of the fruit and firstly draw, then paint this. The students will be stretched, but great results can be expected. - Julia.

Painting of cup cakesWednesday 14th January, 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 1, 2 and 3.

“Cup Cakes” , mixed media on canvas:
The Art Gallery is featuring Pop Art this summer and we want to synchronize by offering a delicious, vibrant, Pop Art experience of cup cakes on canvas. This is a mixed media experience, using paints. – Basia

still life paintingThursday 15th January 9 am- 3 pm for children in years 1,2 and 3.

“Still Life”, mixed media:
The students will be taught new skills as they create a glorious still life of a table with three beautiful cut glass vases . This multi layered art adventure immediately engages the artists, as they design, choose colours and work with oil pastels and white inks before finally revealing their imagery. Our artists love these workshops and the results are always stunning. – Julia

“Under The Sea”, painting on canvas:
So much freedom for our young artists as they choose to include rocks, plants, shells, fish, even mermaids and sharks if they like, for their underwater scene. Again we love offering another summery workshop with an opportunity for the children’s innate creativity to flourish. – Julia

 Shells, mixed mediaMonday 19th January, 9am -3pm, for children in years 1,2 and 3.

“Shells”, mixed media on canvas:
There is so much scope for design and uniqueness in this workshop.  After preparing the background, the children will practice drawing shells, using real shells for their visual prompts.  We will look at a contemporary organization of the images and the artists will paint some shells directly to the canvas, and also utilize some favorites from their original designs, by sticking them on, collage style. – Basia

drawing of spidersTuesday 20th January, 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 4, 5 and 6.

“Peacock Spider”, oil pastel and ink:
This is a fun and creative way that children can become aware of our unique Native Australian Fauna. Drawing skills will be honed as our students firstly draw this most interesting and colourful spider using video and photographs to assist their compositional drawing. They will have to consider the spiders movements and wonderful colors. We will be using the hugely popular, ink and oil pastel process  to produce some really great results. – Julia

Abstract paintingWednesday 21st January, 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 1, 2 and 3.

“Abstract”, painting on canvas:
I believe in offering at least one contemporary expressive painting experience per holiday season.  Our artists love these painting experiences, where they have freedom to choose their colours and paint in an abstract painterly fashion. They will be painting three layers,  watching their works gather depth. There is teaching in colour combinations, light and dark areas, but also lots of freedom. – Basia

 Bird SculptureThursday 22nd January, 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 4, 5 and 6.

 “Major Mitchell’s Cockatoo”, air drying clay:
There is something magical about clay, the children relax as they first spend time just handling it and softening it to make it pliable. This fabulous sculpture is so much fun and there is scope in the design for each artist’s unique style to shine. This is a highly recommended workshop. – Julia

Clay PotFriday 23rd January 9 am – 3 pm, for children in years 1, 2 and 3.

“Beach Scene”, air drying clay pot:
All our artists love working with clay! It is tactile, fun, relaxing and highly creative, with gorgeous results. We continue our summer theme with a beach scene decorating the pots. The children learn to manipulate clay and design and colour elements. This is a richly satisfying workshop.
